Countries: Somalia
Client: International Rescue Committee (IRC)
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) commissioned HACOF to implement the HOPE project, an initiative aimed at fostering community resilience to violence by engaging both community members and Local Government Administrations (LGAs). The project was designed to strengthen community relations and enhance decision-making processes at the local level, ensuring that communities could collaboratively address challenges and promote stability.
Through this initiative, HACOF facilitated transformative changes at both the attitudinal and institutional levels, working to shift perceptions, promote social cohesion, and improve governance structures. The project fostered positive relationships on two critical fronts: among communities themselves and between communities and local government authorities. By building trust and encouraging inclusive dialogue, the initiative contributed to more effective conflict resolution, participatory governance, and sustainable peace.
