Somali Integrated Household Budget Survey

Countries: Somalia

Client: Somalia National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS)/World bank

HACOF collaborated with the Somalia National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) and the World Bank (WB) to collect essential socio-economic data aimed at monitoring the living conditions of private Somali households. The focus of this data collection effort was to assess household access to basic assets, facilities, and services, which are critical indicators for evaluating economic well-being and development. By gathering accurate and up-to-date information, the initiative sought to provide valuable insights that would contribute to improving GDP estimates and informing policy decisions for economic growth and poverty reduction.

The primary objective of the Somalia Integrated Household Budget Survey (SIHBS) was to collect detailed information on household expenditures and consumption patterns related to goods and services. This data was essential for monitoring household welfare, understanding spending behaviors, and measuring poverty levels across different regions. By analyzing these economic indicators, the survey played a crucial role in shaping policies and programs aimed at improving livelihoods, enhancing service delivery, and fostering sustainable economic development in Somalia.
